Simon has built a busy practice as a general litigator. Having obtained a first class honours degree with an award for obtaining one of the highest grades in all degrees for that academic year, Simon completed the Legal Practice Course with distinction. Simon joined the firm immediately thereafter.
Since then Simon has taken an active decision not to specialise in any one area of litigation. Clients comment on Simon’s personal touch, desire, tenacity and passion when acting for his clients. Simon is aggressive yet commercially astute and will never give up trying to pursue the best possible result for his clients.
In 2014 Simon became a partner in Hughmans.

Simon has acted in numerous cases involving cohabiting couples and his clients benefit from the experience the particular challenges involving parties whose relationships, personal or commercial, have broken down bring.
Property and Landlord and Tenant
Having dealt with a wide variety of cases in Property law Simon has vast experience at resolving these disputes. The type of cases Simon has dealt with range from possession proceedings, to service charge disputes, forfeiture proceedings, boundary disputes, disputes as to the lawfulness of a staircase which was installed over our client’s land, and adverse possession claims.
Company and commercial disputes
Having acted for clients in a variety of matters from shareholder and management disputes to contractual and quasi partnership disputes Simon has become accustomed the nature of the disputes which arise in this commercial field.
Simon has also acted in numerous employment law claims, from those for sexual harassment to constructive dismissal to advising on settlement agreements.
Simon has been involved in a wide range of different general civil litigation, ranging from acting for a client who was sexually abused as a child, to personal injury claims, applications for injunctions, construction disputes, contentious probates, civil fraud, insolvency matters, judicial review and even a case against a cruise company.
Family and Child law
In addition to his civil law practice, Simon also has experience in acting for clients at in a variety of different family and child law cases. He is often asked to deal with complex cases especially those involving children although equally enjoys dealing with the simpler cases as well.
This is often one of the most difficult areas of law for clients to deal with but clients have often noted that Simon’s pragmatic, sensible but client focused advice often helps to achieve the best result possible for the clients.
Simon has had particular success with Child law cases achieving a transfer of residency for a father and 50/50 shared care for others where the facts did not ordinarily suggest this would be possible.
Indeed many clients who have instructed Simon in relation to family or child law cases still keep in touch despite the fact the cases concluded some while ago.
